When the path forward is unclear—or the strategy is clear but the organization is struggling to move it into reality—the right first step is not a sales pitch. It is a thoughtful conversation.
Detrick Strategy works with a small number of leaders, leadership teams, owners, and governing bodies navigating consequential decisions, growth, transition, or meaningful transformation.
The first conversation is an opportunity to understand:
- What your organization is navigating now
- What feels unclear, misaligned, stalled, or at risk
- What outcome matters most
- Who needs to be part of the work
- Whether Detrick Strategy is the right fit for the moment
A good reason to reach out
A conversation may be useful when:
- The enterprise has grown, but its systems, structure, or leadership alignment have not kept pace
- A strategic plan exists, but execution has become fragmented or stalled
- Leaders are carrying competing priorities and need a trusted strategic thought partner
- A transition, opportunity, or disruption requires clear direction and disciplined coordination
- The organization needs experienced strategy or transformation leadership without immediately adding a permanent executive role
- Owners, executives, board members, or key stakeholders are not yet aligned around the destination or the path
- The work is important, the conditions are changing, and the organization needs help finding its bearings
What the first conversation is—and is not
It is a focused, confidential exchange designed to determine whether there is a meaningful fit between the challenge and the way Cheryl works.
It is not a generic discovery call, a prepackaged diagnosis, or a pressure-filled sales conversation. Cheryl will ask direct questions, listen carefully, and offer an honest perspective about what she sees. If another kind of expertise is better suited to the situation, she will say so.
What to share
A brief note is enough to begin. It is helpful to include:
- Your name, organization, and role
- The challenge, opportunity, or transition you are navigating
- Why this matters now
- The kind of support you believe may be useful
You do not need to have the problem perfectly defined before reaching out. In many cases, defining the real problem is part of the work.
